At ampFIRST, I am taking advantage of the many business lessons learned while running my first company. I also rely on new methods and techniques I find daily through blogs, professional organizations and educational classes I continue to take related to Internet Advertising, Marketing and Web Development. I once heard that "an expert is someone who makes more mistakes than anyone else." You can't be an expert without trying everything and failing at much of it. If you ever stop trying or quit learning, you cease to be an expert, especially in dealing with the Internet. In 1997, while I was still attending Purdue University, my business partner and I founded our first company, GolfUS.com. The vision for GolfUS.com was simple - to provide websites to golf courses, and enjoy the game we had grown to love. We grew GolfUS.com to not only a website design company with close to 300 clients, but we also launched the Nations Largest Tee Time Auction, creating an e-commerce site that would drive over half a million dollars in revenue each year! In mid 2003, we merged GolfUS.com with Golfer’s Guide magazine to create a larger company that would offer complete marketing solutions to golf courses around the country. We started with an idea, and finished with a successful company that is still generating record profits to this day! 10 years after starting GolfUS.com, I have decided to move on and start new again. With fresh ideas and new dreams, I founded ampFIRST. With my extensive experience with websites and Internet Marketing, I have seen and done nearly everything in the areas of design, development, marketing, promotion and analytics.
